About Me
I was born in Gulu, Uganda, where the stories, the sounds, and the vivid life of the region have been the palette for my art. From a young age, I was always sketching, capturing the essence of my surroundings with a passion that would later define my career. My journey took me to Uganda Christian University in Mukono, where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial and Fine Art. Those years were transformative; not only did I learn the technical skills, but I also discovered the profound impact art could have on society. I delved into both traditional and modern techniques, blending them to create something uniquely Ugandan yet universally relatable. After my studies, I chose to make Mukono my home, setting up my own little studio, which I call my "sanctuary of creativity." Here, I've been able to explore themes that are close to my heart—community, heritage, the daily struggles and joys of life in Uganda. My art is all about colors, textures, and the stories they tell. I work a lot with mixed media, using materials from my environment like recycled fabrics, wood, and local pigments. My pieces often depict the life around me, from the lively markets to the quiet, serene landscapes, capturing the spirit of Uganda. One of my proudest moments was when my painting "The Market Dance" was celebrated at the National Art Exhibition in Kampala. It's been an honor to see my work displayed not just in Uganda but also at international art fairs like the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair in London. But my art isn't just about me; it's about giving back. I engage with the community, mentoring young artists in Mukono through workshops and art camps. I believe art has the power to change lives, to preserve our cultural identity while pushing the boundaries of what art can be. Through my work, I invite you to join a conversation about resilience, joy, and the intricate dance of life. From my studio in Mukono, I continue to weave my narrative into the vibrant tapestry of Uganda's art scene, always seeking to evolve and inspire.
